which more than 152,000 acres are set aside as Public and Protected lands. It's home
to the largest herd of endangered manatees in the state and boasts seven outstanding
Florida Waterways: Crystal River, Homosassa River, Halls River, Withlacoochee River,
Chassahowitzka River, Salt River and St. Martins River.
Citrus County has a Rich History of Pre-Columbian mound builders, Spanish Explorers,
Grover Cleveland, Winslow Homer, the fully restored in 1912 Courthouse and Museum,
gigantic fishbowl, National Register Historic Neighborhoods, even Elvis Presley, all are
a part of Citrus County's history and present day lore.

Winter Temperatures average 60 degrees, with Summer Temperatures of 82 degrees.
Crystal River, Inverness, and Homosassa are Citrus County's major cities. The County
is located on Florida's Nature Coast (west-central) and the Gulf of Mexico, it's 60 miles
northwest of Orlando and 70 miles north of Tampa Bay. Both, the Orlando and Tampa
International Airports are within 60-minutes of Citrus County and they are served by all
major carriers. Gainesville Region Airport, located within 45 min., offers limited service.
